About
What this calculator is, what it isn’t, and the assumptions used.
Why this exists
Quick • Clear • UK-friendly
teslachargecostcalculator.com helps you estimate the cost of adding charge to a Tesla (or any EV) using battery size, state of charge (SOC), charging losses and your electricity price.
Accuracy & assumptions
Estimates, not guarantees
This tool provides estimates. Real-world charging varies due to temperature, battery conditioning, charger type, grid voltage, and (for DC) charging taper at high SOC.
- Losses: AC charging losses are often ~8–12%. DC can be lower, but still varies.
- DC time: Supercharging slows near high SOC. The app uses a simple taper model to reflect this.
- Miles: “Miles added” is based on the efficiency figure you enter (mi/kWh).
Tesla model “presets” are approximate battery sizes for convenience. Always override if you want exact inputs.
